About Looking (1980), John Berger
What served in place of the photograph, before the camera's invention? The expected answer is the engraving, the drawing, the painting. The more revealing answer might be: memory. What photographs do out there in space was previously done with reflection.
New Media in Late 20th-Century Art 最後說:
What, we might now ask, will be the content of memory if we can no longer distinguish simulated events and experiences from 'real' ones? Perhaps the merging of 'the real' and 'the virtual' in art, as well as in life, will be in the future what the merging of 'art and 'the everyday' has been in the twentieth century.
我想,用卡爾維諾/如果在冬夜,一個旅人中的這個句子作為整個標題與結尾大概是最適合的吧?
